A fan-made archive of one story arc

An unofficial reference and commentary site covering the Shou Tucker sequence in Fullmetal Alchemist — the chronology of events, a page for the child at the centre of them, and a critical essay on why the arc has stayed in the conversation for twenty-odd years.

Everything here is written from the published work. Nothing on this site is invented lore, and where the two anime adaptations disagree, the difference is stated rather than smoothed over.

On not depicting the chimera

The obvious image for a site like this is the one everybody remembers. It has been left out on purpose.

The arc's power comes from what it means, not from what it looks like, and reproducing the image mostly serves the reader who wants to be shocked rather than the one who wants to understand. The illustration used instead — an alchemical circle drawn unfinished, with a line struck through it — is original to this site.

Where this comes from

Fullmetal Alchemist (鋼の錬金術師) is a manga written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa, serialised in Monthly Shōnen Gangan from 2001 to 2010. Two anime adaptations were produced by Bones: the 2003 series, which diverges from the manga partway through, and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2009), which follows it closely.

The Tucker arc appears early in all three versions. Chapter and episode numbers are deliberately omitted here because they differ between editions, printings, and regional releases.

If something here is wrong

Details that vary between adaptations are the most likely thing to be misstated, along with anything about the 2003 continuity. Corrections with a source are welcome and will be made.
